August in Manistee, Michigan, is a dream come true for couples seeking a picturesque setting for their lake wedding in Michigan, and Kayla and Derek’s beautiful campground wedding on the banks of Lake Michigan was no exception. Just an hour south of Traverse City, this stunning location perfectly embodied the relaxed vibe that these two down-to-earth souls exuded throughout their special day.

Their ceremony took place just steps from the water, where the breathtaking views of Lake Michigan provided a calming backdrop for their vows. As Kayla and Derek exchanged their vows against the backdrop of Lake Michigan, it was clear that their love—and their appreciation for the beauty of Up North—was at the heart of this celebration.

After the ceremony, we all moved to the campground for the reception, where the fun really began under a charming pavilion. Watching Kayla and Derek dance together and sing a worship song in front of their family and friends was a highlight of the day. Their joy was contagious, filling the pavilion with warmth and love, creating an atmosphere where everyone felt part of the moment. It was a beautiful expression of their faith and connection. This truly was a simple wedding that prioritized love and togetherness over all else.

One of my favorite memories from the day was when Kayla and Derek snuck away for a private dinner, just the two of them. They found a quiet spot with Lake Michigan right behind them, where they could savor their meal away from the hustle and bustle of the reception. It was such a beautiful, intimate moment—an opportunity for them to just be the two of them, surrounded by the natural beauty of Northern Michigan.

As the sun began to set, the golden hour bathed the cliffs overlooking Lake Michigan which always feels like pure summer magic. I could feel the love between them as they embraced the moments, and I was honored to capture it all.

Another unique touch that stood out was how they chose to personally serve cake to their guests after the cake-cutting ceremony. It was such a thoughtful gesture that allowed their guests a chance to talk to the bride and groom. Such  a unique idea that added to the warmth of a simple wedding.

With family and friends gathered to support them, the day was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. For couples looking for a wedding spot in Northern Michigan, Kayla and Derek’s serene campground wedding is a perfect example of how a beautiful location and a relaxed atmosphere can create a truly special and sacred celebration.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that captures the essence of nature and your love story, look no further than the stunning landscapes of Lake Michigan.
